Time Out at Linda's....

Saturday August 20 saw me over at Lovely Linda's for a Vintage Paper Bag Album workshop from 1pm through til 4.30pm with a great bunch of women. Always good fun to be able to sit and focus on creating with everything you need at your fingertip including guidance from my good friend Linda. Of course, afternoon tea supplied & as always the yummiest Pavlova included. I also bought along a Crunchy Cob loaf filled with yummy spinach dip which also went down very well....especially as I had not had time for lunch!! All up a wonderful afternoon and I mostly got the front cover and one double page inside put together. As I have not yet decided whether it will be a photo album or coffee table book of precious words I have not completed those pages yet, but I have a good back ground to work on......only 15 more pages to go!!!!! If you would like a kit to make your own, Linda is selling them so contact her through her website which I have linked to.

We all got different colours and really have made them to our own taste and styles.....it is amazing how different they all turn out. Here is my start, hope it inspires you to perhaps grab a kit and make your own, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

Children at Play...

A month ago I did the wrong challenge for Triplicate Trials Tuesday, but finally it is here & so I have my card done ahead....yay!!! This is the challenge:

And this is my card:

I have dry embossed my patterned paper and sponged around it, layer it on red and then onto the crumbcake coloured card. I have used eggplant / purple card as my strip layering it over with some pattern paper which you can see I have torn. The images of the children come from an old card I found and have cut up and layered again onto crumbcake coloured card, distressing around the edge before layering it on a red ribbon only allowing the heart border to show. The flower was left over from a project I did for a friend, and I am sorry to say I do not remember the brand, but it seemed to fit so well with purple tints on cream. For the lettering FUN I have used the retired Stampin' Up Whimsical Alphabet which is still one of my favorites. I hope you like it. Other challenges I have entered it in are:

I love Scrapbooking nights at Ann's!!!

With all that we have been doing on the house, plus work there has been little time for creating. The odd card here and there for the DT I am on, plus a few extra it was great to get back to scrapbooking at Ann's, our independent Stampin' Up demonstrator. I hadn't been for so long, then Ann was away in Italy (green!!). Last night there was only 4 of us so lots of room to be spread out and creative. It always amazes me how we can all be given the same layout and come up with pages that look soooooo different. I had some photos of our Goddaughter's Dedication and particularly love this photo of her. I have used SU papers, and that great flower diecut....just love it! Some of the papers I have dry embossed, and I always love to sponge. Not sure if you can see it very well, but I have drawn stitching around the pink square as well as the cream circle. And finally, the finishing touch, a Tim Holtz Elegant Flourish. Hope you enjoy the page and the subject.

Aint she sweet?

Our baby granddaughter, Alexia (better known as Lexi) is growing up fast. At 4 months old she was already in size 0's!! She is soooooo very long. These photos here were taken last week at home. Mum has gone back to study and so dad had her on his own, so Tam (daughter) & I took the opportunity to pop over for a visit. She was asleep when we got there as you can see in the first photo, with Rosie I think they said her name is, her doll, that Uncle Tris & Aunty Carissa bought her when she was born. The cut little pink jacket was a gift from our dear friends, Denis & Marilyn also when she was born. Luckily for us, she woke up and was chatting to us, laughing and glued to the book I had bought her and read to her.

Jac-inks Challenge #14 Sketch

Well it's challenge time again over at Jac-inks and it's a sketch challenge. I was lucky enough to have received a beautiful pack of scrapbooking/cardmaking stuff for my birthday from my dear friend Keely. I just love the colours in the pack and was inspired straight away with the sketch to use them. I also couldn't resist using my favourite heart stamp, Layers of Color's Fleur Heart. A bit of chalk to that and some pearls and it matches beautifully, (well I think so!! LOL!!!) Dry embossing patterned papers is something my friend Lovely Linda has encouraged me to do and I love it too. So I hope you like my vintage card and you will go and join in the challenge at Jac-inks.
